Whats the difference between the 1999 version of Journey to The Center of The Earth with Treat Williams and the Newer Version of it with Brendan Fraser?

1999 version of Journey to The Center of The Earth with Treat Williams is a slow moving, made for TV movie. The acting, while not quite abysmal, never is convincing enough to develop any degree of concern for the principle characters. The animated creature special effects look really fake, though the rubber suits look pretty good considering the other production values.

Journey to the Center of the Earth (also promoted as Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D or Journey 3-D) is a 2008 3-D film starring Brendan Fraser, Josh Hutcherson, and Anita Briem. It refers to and may be considered a 21st Century sequel to the 19th Century novel of the same name by Jules Verne.
