What Are The Best Tactics For Parenting Teenagers?
What Techniques Should You Use for Parenting Your Teenagers?
There is no one method for parenting teenagers that works well in all cases. Every teenager is a bit different than the other and parents possess their own unique forms of parenting. It doesn't matter what your tactics are, however, it is crucial for you to do everything in your power to keep the lines of communication open between you and your teenager. The following advice on parenting teenagers can be useful as you do your best to help your teenager grow into a healthy adult.
It's important for you to remember that you are not their best friend you are their parent. You want to avoid falling into the trap of letting them get away with anything they want to do. While teenagers may not admit it, they want advice and guidance from you. At times they also need certain limits, and if you don't provide these, it's unlikely anyone else will, at least not in a constructive way. Teenagers who have no rules at home often run into problems with other authority figures, such as teachers or even the police. You don't have to be authoritarian in your approach to parenting teenagers, but you have to let your teenager know that you care what they are doing and that some things are not allowed. It is most important when parenting teenagers that you set a good example for them. This may seem obvious but you might be surprise how many parents don't practice what they preach. For example if teenagers see their parents getting drunk or high, they are not likely to follow their advice to avoid this behavior. It's the same with cursing. So set the example you want them to follow.
Parenting teenagers can sometimes put a strain on a marriage, especially when the parents disagree on the best practices. Don't lose sight of your marriage it will need work too. Teenagers are very sensitive to their environment, even if they may appear disinterested much of the time. Teens emotional problems usually stem from tension between parents. It's important for you and your spouse to communicate and find a common ground regarding parenting issues. More importantly than anything don't allow your child to play his/her parents against each other. Consider counseling if you need help with this. The stronger your overall family life is the easier it will be to survive the teenage years. You can watch your teen grow into a budding adult despite the difficult moments. We all go through it, it's an adjustment for everyone involved. We sincerely hope the tips here have been helpful in getting you through parenting a teenager.
Parenting is in many cases challenging. To help beat the teenage years get your young children involved in calm activities with the family unit. Like reading a book. You could even teach them to read with the proper phonics curriculm. Teaching them phonics isn't hard.

Teenage $13.99 In his previous landmark book on youth culture and teen angst, the award-winning England's Dreaming , Jon Savage presented the "definitive history of the English punk movement" ( The New York Times ). Prime Time/The Flaming Teenage - B&W $5.99 Includes:The Flaming Teen-Age (1956) The Prime Time (1960) The Flaming Teen-Age A teenage boy learns about the dangers of alcohol while another man tumbles from booze into dope addiction in this exploitation drama. After his high-school-age son is found passed out by the side of the road in a drunken stupor, a father chooses an unusual form of punishment -- taking the boy to the sleaziest beer halls and juke joints in town. After an evening of watching hopeless drunks in their natural environment, the boy begins to learn his lesson. Later, we are introduced to Fred Garland (Noel Reyburn), an ambitious young man who owns his own candy shop while still in high school but dreams of bigger and better things. After enjoying some spiked punch at a party, Fred develops a taste for liquor and sells his shop to move to New York City. Fred lands a part in a vaudeville show and is enjoying life on the road until his drinking makes his unreliable, and a later job running a variety show for the owner of a drugstore goes no better. Fred fares a bit better when he opens a talent agency, but after he's talked into going into a confidence game with his partner, he's found guilty of fraud and takes it on the lam. Falling deeper and deeper into alcohol and despair, Fred's bad luck gets even worse when a "friend" introduces him to heroin. The Flaming Teen-Age was originally released as Twice Convicted and named for a play about the real-life travails of Fred Garland; the framing story of the teenage alcoholic was later added in order to sell the picture as a juvenile delinquency epic. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi The Prime Time A fast-paced, low-budget, teen sex and action film, this foray into a dysfunctional subculture is directed by Gordon Weisenborn. The focus of the story is a seventeen-year-old young woman who runs away from home more from boredom than any valid reason. What she runs into is a problematical relationship with one of society's dropouts, a supposed artist. Meanwhile, her straight-laced boyfriend and a tough young detective are out hunting her down. Circumstances bring her around into a fractious relationship with the detective, once she is found, that threatens to be much worse than anything she knew at home. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi |
