Quite frequently, when new technology emerges there can be misunderstandings about it. One major illustration is regarding snowboard bases created from new-fangled technology materials. There are some who assume that these newer matters no longer necessitate the base to be waxed. Still, that is blatantly false on all fronts.

Raise the temperature slowly until you notice smoke when the iron touches the wax. Don't turn up the temperature too fast. Start to lower the setting on the iron when the wax starts to smoke, and just below this point is the right temperature. That will put your non-digital waxing iron at about 248 degrees, and you'll be ready to rock and roll with your waxing.
Get as much of the old residue and wax off the surface as possible before you begin. Get a good scraper to do this he best way possible. If you ski or ride on a lot of man-made snow, then be aware that the petroleum products in the man-made snow will leave a residue on your skis. This residue will slow you down not make you go faster. You might feel like you just skied over a mound of dirt. Remove as much as you can with the scraper and then use a good solvent to remove the rest with a cloth.
You'll recognize that if you become knowledgeable about accurately tuning and waxing your skis and snowboards that your gear will last far longer.
