Shooting +p ammo out of a 45 cal long colt not rated for +p ammunition?

I bought a 45 cal EAA Big Bore not rated +P. I bought it for protection against black bears. If i shot +p ammo it would be in only emergency conditions. Would this be half way safe, instead of being mauled by a black bear.

sounds like a poor choice to me. It isn't rated to take those pressures and the results may be catastrophic. Besides which, at close range, it will work as is. Although not the best choice for bear, it beats a lot of other calibers..
Lets hope you never need it.
