Moby-Dick?
Is this novel considered a "voyage of the soul"?
Please explain
As my name would suggest, "Moby Dick" is my favorite book. Calling it a "voyage of the soul" wouldn't be inaccurate. Melville described the passage of a ship through the water as "a trackless voyage," and, as in all of his writing, the meaning is more than literal. Ishmael is the voyager, and what he witnesses and experiences, and whatever understanding he gains from it, are what make him able to be the sole survivor and able to tell the story.
Of course, the book can also be described in many other terms.
