The Way To Strengthen Self Esteem: Eradicate The Three Killers Of Self-Esteem

The human ego can be a fragile thing. As young children, we generate beliefs and values that researchers reveal to us might dictate our destiny to our very last day on Earth. Killer #1: Living With Fear, Guilt and Worry
 
There's almost nothing more detrimental to an otherwise healthy self-concept than living with dread of your foreseeable future, guilt about the past and worry about the present. These three psychological vampires will over time, drain you of your vitality, your happiness as well as your soul. If you're burdened with these issues chances are you'll have by now realized that they all share a common origin. They're all a result of perception.
 
Even though getting out from under the burden of fear, guilt and worry may perhaps seem to be impossible, when you begin to see their trigger as merely errors in perception, then you certainly are able to take control of their demise. I’ll talk much more about this in a future article.
 
Killer #2: Being Disconnected From Your “Authentic” Self
 
Your authentic self is the “real” you—the core essence of your personality and significance. As we expand and evolve from young children, by way of generally external reasons (parents, friends, media, etc.), we lose contact with that essence and start to adapt our identities to societal models and not depend on our inner knowing to reveal to us who we are. The capacity to bond together with your authentic self is powerful and is a basic requirement of stable self-worth.
 
Killer #3: Lacking the Power of Love
 
The inability to accept and love your self for who you are is critical to a healthy and highly effective self-esteem. As in the example above, the moment you have entirely connected with “who you are,” you must learn how to accept and appreciate that uniquely remarkable creation that you are. The inability to love yourself is also mirrored in the inability to accept other people for who they are; a basic factor of solid supportive relationships.
 
In summary, the missing keys to building unshakable self-esteem along with a highly effective sense of identity are to remove the burden of fear, guilt and worry, reestablish connection with your own authenticity and eventually, accept and appreciate yourself just the way you are.
 
The way in which to achieve this is straightforward but not usually easy due to the fact, as I pointed out earlier, to alter your level of self-worth you must first and foremost raise the quality of your thoughts. By focusing on getting rid of these three killers of your self-worth you'll be able to radically change your thinking along with the way you progress through life. I’ll be going over each of these in a lot more detail in the next installments in this series.
