Discover The Different Trips And A Variety Of Bryce Canyon Tours By Way Of Las Vegas
Located on the edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau, Bryce Canyon National Park is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful of national parks to be found anywhere in North America. It's ancient rock formations and amphitheaters are the work of millions of years erosion by water, ice and rain. For those visitors searching for something different to do while they're in town, Bryce Canyon Tours from Las Vegas might be just what they are looking for.
Covering an area of only thirty-six thousand acres, it is the smallest of Utah's national parks. The more famous and much larger Grand Canyon and Zion National Parks often overshadow it. Overshadowed and underrated as it is, it is still a rare gem of a park. It's smaller size, incredible views, and accessible trails make it a must-see.
The main attraction at the park is Brice Canyon, a huge natural amphitheater. Rising from its floor are numerous spectacular freestanding limestone rock formations known of as 'hoodoos'. The Paiute Indians that inhabited the area for centuries before the coming of European settlers, believed that the hoodoos were the remains of the ancient Legend people who had been turned to stone as a result of their bad deeds. Whether the legend is true or not, you can get a closer look at them by hiking along one of the four major trails that run along the Amphitheater.
The Rim Trail runs for about five and a half miles along the cliff above the famous Bryce Amphitheater, connecting the five major viewing points that overlook it. It is flat enough to be suitable for wheelchairs between the Sunset and Sunrise points.
The Queen's Garden Trail begins, at and returns, to Fairyland Point. Descending for a distance of 1.7 miles below the Rim, it's by far the easiest trail. From it, you can see the Queen Victoria and Queens Castle rock formations.
Beginning and ending at Sunset Point, the Navajo Loop Trail descends 1.3 miles below Bryce Rim. Along its route, you will pass through a narrow opening between sheer cliff walls called "Wall Street", and see the Thor's Hammer, Silent City, and Temple of Osiris formations.
The Fairyland Loop Trail is considered the most strenuous, due to its eight-mile length and periodic steep stretches. The trail runs from Fairyland point, down through Fairyland Canyon, then works its way back up again along the China Wall, until it finally runs over the Rim Trail and back to Fairyland Point. On the portion running along Fairyland Canyon, at about mid-point in the trek, is Tower Bridge Junction. A short trail leads from it to the Tower Bridge rock formation, which is remarkable for its resemblance to a complete castle.
Fairyland Point does not receive as many visitors as the other points do because it is on the regular beaten track. However, not taking the time to see it would be to deprive yourself of the best view that the park has to offer. The Boat Mesa, which is the highest hoodoo in the park, as well as the impressively lifelike Sinking Ship formation are both visible from it.
