Organizing Your Friends And Family On Your Wedding Day
When my best friend was getting married, she was rushing around like a crazy thing with lists of people she wanted to invite and jobs which had to be done. There were deadlines for the flowers, the dress, the cake and so on. It was like being in the middle of a whirlwind with her rushing around everywhere.
First she didn't really who to put on her guest list and was leaving loads of people out. Then she didn't have a clue what to put on her wedding list. She was going a bit overboard putting every tiny little thing down.
Or you can compose your own lists. It is often a good idea to put things which you would not ordinarily buy for yourself like luxury quilt sets. Don't forget, especially with soft furnishings, that you will both have to live in your house together, so don't try to go for anything too pink and fluffy!
I did not know what to get her. We love her dearly and wanted to get them something they would remember us by. So in the end a group of us got together and decided to get them a nice dining room set. Yes, it is an expensive item, but it was one of the first things she put on her original list and we thought they needed one.
Well, they have to eat and they didn't have anywhere to sit. I tried telling her they didn't have a dining room in their apartment, but there is no telling my Mom when she gets like that.
Traditionally, it has always been a custom to display your gifts in a separate room either before, or during the celebrations. This is a quaint old tradition and it can be very charming to do this. You can even have a special gift shower for this purpose.
Well, here it was, the big day at last. We were all gathered, looking fine and feeling great, when this huge car pulls up outside. And out of it staggers Aunt Bee, holding what can only be described as a gigantic present in her arms. I look at my friend and she looks at me, and we both say together: the quilt set!
