First Dates

Blind Dates And More, What To Wear
That first date can be jitter inducing and nerve wracking. It does not really matter if this is a blind date or a date with a friend you would like more with- deciding what you wear is key. You may feel tempted to just throw on anything and splash a bit of eau de parfum spray on yourself, but this isn't going to work if you want to make a great initial impression on someone. You have to give it a little more effort than that.
There are a number of ways to make a good first impression on a first date and ensure that you look wonderful. Thinking about a few important factors before the date will make picking an outfit easy, and you will find you look great and feel confident about that.
For the first date, it is always better to know what you will be doing and where. After all, you do not want to show up in a pair of skinny jeans for a night at the opera. Consider asking about what the plan is, before the date, even if that seems awkward. It would be more awkward to show up improperly dressed for the occasion, so be sure you know what you're getting into ahead of time.
Being able to ask your date or, even who ever made the date for you can help. You need to figure out what is going to happen so that you can make sure to plan accordingly. This will enable you to have a great time without worrying so much.
While you want to be yourself, and you want to make sure that you are not being fake, there's also a better way to do that. After all, sweats and a t shirt may be your style, but they are about as appealing on a first date as an old brown boot.
If you're dressed slightly casual, but not over doing it, you should be just the thing. You may be going out for dinner, and yes, casual business usually works for this. If you have asked what is going on, and found that you're going to the gym? There is the one rare time sweats are okay. This also holds true of jeans, there are a few situations you can wear them and look great.
A walk in the park? Definitely. A trip to the fancy French restaurant? Absolutely not. Plan your style around what you know about where you are going and keep it fairly conservative. You don't have to wear something boring, but it is generally a good idea to sort of save the racier outfits for later dates. Making sure you follow these tips will help you to make the very best first impression and help you to perhaps get to that second date.

Dates $15.95 In Dates, Nawal Nasrallah draws on her experience of growing up in the lands of ancient Mesopotamia, where the date palm was first cultivated, to explore the history behind the fruit. Dates have an important role in their arid homeland of the Middle East, where they are a dietary staple and can be consumed fresh or dried, as a snack or a dessert, and are even thought to have aphrodisiac qualities.       In this history, Nasrallah describes the central role the date palm has played in the economy of the Middle East. This informative account of the date palm’s story follows its journey from its land of origin to the far-flung regions where it is cultivated today. Along the way, Nasrallah weaves many fascinating and humorous anecdotes that explore the etymology, history, culture, religion, myths, and legends surrounding dates. For example, she explains how the tree came to be a symbol of the Tree of Life and associated with the fiery phoenix bird, the famous ancient goddess Ishtar, and the moon, and how the medjool date acquired its name.   This delightful and unusual book is generously illustrated with many beautiful images, and supplemented with more than a dozen delicious date recipes for savory dishes, sweets, and wine. |

50 First Dates/Mr. Deeds [2 Discs] - $14.99 Includes:Mr. Deeds (2002), MPAA Rating: PG-13 50 First Dates (2004), MPAA Rating: PG-13 Mr. Deeds One of Frank Capra's best-loved stories gets a modernized and wildly slapstick reinterpretation in this romantic comedy starring Adam Sandler. When Preston Blake (Harve Presnell), a remarkably wealthy media magnate, dies with neither a wife nor children, the question on the lips of most of his associates is who will inherit the estate. The surprising answer turns out to be Longfellow Deeds (Adam Sandler), a cheerful but half-bright proprietor of a small-town pizzeria, as well as part-time greeting card poet, who was a distant relative of Blake. In order to claim his 40-billion-dollar inheritance, Deeds heads to New York City, where Blake's former associates, Chuck Cedar (Peter Gallagher) and Cecil Anderson (Erick Avari), introduce him to the city while trying to figure out how to get their hands on his new fortune. Meanwhile, Mac McGrath (Jared Harris), the producer of a sleazy tabloid television show, wants to get the inside scoop on Deeds, and comes up with perfect way to get it: he sends beautiful but unscrupulous reporter Babe Bennett (Winona Ryder) to sweep Deeds off his feet while she's wired for sound. Convincing Deeds that she's from a small town just like himself, Bennett quickly wins his heart, but while his affection is sincere, hers is not. He also displays a curious eagerness to defend her good name with his fists which quickly gets him in trouble. Meanwhile, as Deeds becomes the new laughing stock of New York thanks to Bennett's stories, Deeds decides it's time he did something big with his money, while Cedar and Anderson think they've finally found a way to take control of Deeds' holdings. Mr. Deeds also features supporting performances from John Turturro, Steve Buscemi, and Conchata Ferrell. John McEnroe and Rev. Al Sharpton make cameo appearances as themselves. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi 50 First Dates Re-teaming Adam Sandler with Drew Barrymore, his co-star from The Wedding Singer, as well as Peter Segal, his director on Anger Management, Fifty First Dates finds the funnyman playing veterinarian Henry Roth.
