Dvd Mark
Debian read iso from hard drive?
Hi all,
Just installed Debian Etch 4.0. When I go to install custom packages like Amarok the system tells me to insert the dvd marked Debiani386.iso. Now I have the iso on my hard drive which I downloaded.
However, I can not burn it to dvd because I don't have growisofs installed for k3b. I can't get growisofs installed because when I try to install it the system asks for the dvd.
This dog chasing his tail. Can I somehow get the gui Adept Intaller and apt-get from the command line to read the iso from my hard drive as a repository as if it where burned to dvd?
I know it has something to do with mounting and looping, but I need step by step instructions please.

how do you do this from the command line. when i run apt-get install it asks for the dvd.

Why don't you just get it from the internet? Connect to the network repos and download from them. The debian cd just provides an offline version of a select number of packages.
