How much do I thin oil paint for Bob Ross style painting?
I watch the videos,nobody seems to say how much they thin there paint.They can paint a stream,I cant.I use Windser paint.Under coat with liquid white.How thin should I thin my paint?
Maybe his books would be of help to you.The liquid white is applied very thinly touching the canvas the paint should not fill the ridges of your fingerprint.If it does take a clean brush and try to brush off some of it and or use a rag or paper towel to remove some .Bob Ross or Alexander brand paints are recommended especially for beginners.I prefer the Alexander ones myself.The beginning stages such as sky are painted thinly by not loading much paint onto the bristles.Make your mixture and spread the paint thinly on the palette >then dip your brush into it and then tap the bristles against the palette to distribute the paint into it (this wipes off the excess)This is one way to load the brush with less paint . Watch the videos frame by frame, notice how he holds the brush ,knife and exactly what he does with it .You can learn a lot this way.
