Romantic Comedy Movies
Romantic comedy movies will often be known by the abbreviations romcoms or rom coms. But no matter what you contact them, you are able to count of the plot centering around someone and girl who meet, just fall in love, and then encounter some means of relationship-threatening difficulty. In many instances, they find yourself together eventually, but you will find the rare romantic comedy movie in which the guy isn't getting your ex.
The subsequent article lists several of my favorite romantic comedy movies produced over time. Since I'm a guy, I don't rush in the market to see everything starring Jennifer Lopez or one of the Sex along with the City gals, so I hope this list can provide some alternatives not normally encountered on your own average vacation to Netflix or local video store.
The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985) - Mia Farrow plays a lonely Nj housewife surviving the truly amazing Depression. To pass enough time and get away from her tedious existence, she visits the movies regularly. Imagine her surprise every time a hunky on-screen character (Jeff Daniels) breaks the fourth wall and starts speaking right to her.
Intolerable Cruelty (2003) - The Coen brothers try their hand at setting up a screwball comedy within this film starring George Clooney as being a cynical lawyer and Catherine Zeta-Jones like a money-hungry divorcee. Sparks fly, as well as the supporting cast includes Geoffrey Rush, Billy Bob Thornton, and Cedric the Entertainer.
Milk Money (1994) - Melanie Griffith stars as being a prostitute named "V" who gives three pre-teen boys a ride home and ends up hiding outside in a tree house. There's a sudden attraction relating to the kind-hearted V and a widower science teacher (Ed Harris), but they will have to conquer her rather unfriendly pimp (Casey Siemaszko) before soul mates can win out.
Ball of Fire (1941) - A group of professors (including Gary Cooper) are in isolation while compiling an encyclopedia coming from all human knowledge. Because of a freak set of circumstances, they end up eating a burlesque performer named "Sugarpuss" O'Shea (Barbara Stanwyck), and she or he teaches them all several new tricks. Meanwhile, she's being pursued by her mobster boyfriend.
Kissing Jessica Stein (2001) - Sick and tired with heterosexual relationships that go nowhere, a Jewish copyeditor named Jessica Stein (Jennifer Westfeldt) replies to a personal ad placed by a bisexual art gallery owner (Heather Juergensen). As his or her relationship deepens, they face a number of challenges, including Jessica's desire not to reveal her relationship to her family.
One Fine Day (1996) - Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney star as single moms who're late to decrease their kids off for any school field trip. Have hectic schedules planned, and so they choose to communicate to have with the day. Their relationship begins rocky, but tend to anyone resist that George Clooney smile for very long?
Pat and Mike (1952) - Katharine Hepburn is really a promising female athlete, but her fiance always eventually ends up distracting her. When she hires a sports promoter (Spencer Tracy) to aid her, the happy couple slowly develop an attraction to each other. But could their budding relationship weather an ill-tempered boxer and numerous mobsters?
The Heartbreak Kid (1972) - Voted from the American Film Institute as the 100 funniest films ever made, the film stars Charles Grodin as being a Jewish sports equipment salesman who leaves his new bride to pursue a blonde coed (Cybill Shepherd) he meets on his honeymoon. Eddie Albert received an Oscar nomination for his role as Shepherd's over-protective father.
Continental Divide (1981) - The final film created by actor/comedian John Belushi, Continental Divide casts him in the role of a major city newspaper reporter who heads in the Rockies after having a story he ran got him badly beaten by the set of corrupt cops. There, he meets a spirited researched named Dr. Nell Porter (Blair Brown), plus a romance slowly actually starts to simmer involving the bickering duo.
The Courtship of Eddie's Father (1963) - Glenn Ford plays a widower wanting to raise young son Eddie (Ron Howard). Eddie wants his father to become happy, and thus he's always wanting to fix him track of various women, with lower than successful results. Shirley Jones and Stella Stevens co-star, as well as the film would inspire the television series starring Bill Bixby and Brandon Cruz.
That concludes my examine some excellent romantic comedy movies you may well be unfamiliar with. There are tons more where that originated from, however, and modern-day filmmakers like Judd Apatow have certainly take their own stamp about the genre. So regardless of what the era, you're guaranteed to have plenty of rom com goodness from which to choose.

Barbara Stanwyck $35 Barbara Stanwyck (1907-1990) rose from the ranks of chorus girl to become one of Hollywood's most talented leading women-and America's highest paid woman in the mid-1940s. Shuttled among foster homes as a child, she took a number of low-wage jobs while she determinedly made the connections that landed her in successful Broadway productions. Stanwyck then acted in a stream of high-quality films from the 1930s through the 1950s. Directors such as Cecil B. DeMille, Fritz Lang, and Frank Capra treasured her particular magic. A four-time Academy Award nominee, winner of three Emmys and a Golden Globe, she was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Academy. Dan Callahan considers both Stanwyck's life and her art, exploring her seminal collaborations with Capra in such great films as Ladies of Leisure , The Miracle Woman , and The Bitter Tea of General Yen ; her Pre-Code movies Night Nurse and Baby Face ; and her classic roles in Stella Dallas , Remember the Night , The Lady Eve , and Double Indemnity .
